Two formidable and rabble-rousing distortion circuits (OD1, OD2) are at your disposal in the Optimist. OD1, in Jackson Audio’s words, seeks to replicate the mythical sound of one of the most elusive and expensive overdrive pedals you can(t) find. Boasting a huge reputation, the Klon circuit is something of a holy grail for distortion dwellers, as there’s nothing quite like its natural sounding overdrive. The OD1 replicates this legendary circuitry and delivers that sweet stock tone by using germanium diodes, and extends the possibilities by mixing it with the three-band EQ.
On the other channel is the Timmy inspired OD2, in contrast to the mid-focused OD1, this channel works perfectly flat across the entire guitar range. Suitable for rhythm work or adding a more subtle, crisp touch for lead playing, the OD2 can even be activated simultaneously to boost the harmonics of OD1 even further!
