Complex Wavefolding

At the core of the Intellijel Bifold is the two unique wavefolders, both with their own distinctive characteristics, which can be crossfaded to produce subtle, warm and rich tones to wild and out of this world sounds. The 'P' channel, is a Buchla-inspired "deadband" parallel wavefolder, while the 'S' channel is a Serge-inspired serial folding circuit. Expertly designed and engineered, these channel types have been implemented after painstaking research due to the differences in their frequency response, how they react to specific waveforms and modulation to create interesting and unique experiences. Individually, each circuit is capable of creating harmonically rich wavefolding excitement, but when blended using the smooth XFADE knob, the Bifold can take basic VCO waveshapes and transform them into new, complex textures that will open up limitless creative possibilities.

The Bifold 3U has a whole range of functionality that goes beyond the core wavefolding. You can explore classic ring modulation sounds, ultra-wide stereo effects, complex noise generation, feedback modulation and much more. CV control, routing switches, jack normals, attenuators are all present to provide you with a wide range of flexible patching into your existing Eurorack set-up to discover a new world of modulation and exciting soundscapes.

Dual-channel crossfading

Providing an almost limitless possibility for wave-shaping, each wavefolder on the Bifold has its own input, meaning you can feed them separate signals and crossfade or blend between the two, as well as each wavefolder containing a dedicated output that feeds to the MIX out via the XFADE knob. This allows you to easily crossfade between the two wavefold flavours by using the XFADE knob. When the top switches are set to SYM, their adjacent knobs will control the symmetry of each wavefolder, creating unique and interesting sounds. You can even create a feedback loop for a truly gritty and infinite sound by setting the top switches to AUX. This sets the amount set from the AUX input to the folders input, as the AUX input is normalled with the MIX output, you can create a feedback loop for sonic destruction.

The flexibility of the Bifold is highlighted with the ability to patch the output of one wavefolder into the input of the other to produce some wild and unexpected results, which can be taken to the next level with modulation either with the Phase switch or through external CV.
