Detailed piano sound

Featuring Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial piano samples, the CVP 905 delivers the distinct character of two respected concert grand pianos. Virtual Resonance Modelling recreates the sympathetic vibrations of strings and cabinet components in real time, producing a more natural and immersive sound. Binaural sampling is also included for selected piano voices, helping create a more realistic listening experience when using headphones. Together, these technologies provide a nuanced sound that closely follows the way you play.

Perform with a virtual ensemble

With 525 accompaniment styles and more than 1,300 voices, the CVP 905 offers far more than traditional piano sounds. Styles automatically generate backing parts that follow your playing, making solo performances feel like full ensemble arrangements. Instrument voices cover a wide range of categories, including orchestral, acoustic, electronic, and more, giving you plenty of scope for arranging and experimentation. You can layer sounds, split the keyboard, and customise voices to create setups tailored to your own musical ideas.

Tools for learning & recording

The CVP 905 includes a broad collection of features designed to support practice and creativity. Built-in songs, guide lamps, lesson functions, and Piano Room provide useful ways to develop your playing. A microphone input allows you to sing along while performing, with Vocal Harmony effects available for added flexibility. Bluetooth audio lets you stream music directly through the speaker system, while USB audio recording and 16-track MIDI recording make it simple to capture performances. The 7-inch colour touchscreen keeps everything organised and easy to navigate.

Expanded control with Smart Pianist

The CVP 905 is compatible with Yamaha's Smart Pianist app, giving you an easy way to control key piano functions from your smartphone or tablet. Available free for iOS and Android devices, the app lets you select voices, adjust settings, record performances, and access features through a simple interface. Built-in Bluetooth audio also allows you to stream music from your smart device through the piano's speakers, making play-along practice even easier.

Smart Pianist includes helpful tools for developing your skills. The Guide feature pauses accompaniment until you play the correct note, helping you learn at your own pace. There's also a Medal Challenge mode that evaluates your performances and awards medals, giving you a clear way to track progress and stay motivated.
