Expanded input capacity for professional setups
The Allen & Heath QU-7 offers a full-featured input section designed to meet the demands of complex live and studio environments. It provides 32 mono mic/line channels, with two stereo pairs for additional sources like instruments or media playback. Each channel includes onboard digital processing such as 4-band parametric EQ, compressor, gate, and delay, giving you a complete toolset for shaping and refining your mix without external gear.
The high-quality combi inputs support both XLR and jack connections, and dedicated stereo line inputs expand your flexibility further. You also get a talkback input for communicating with stage performers or technical staff during rehearsals and soundchecks. The headphone output supports solo monitoring, making it easy to check mixes or isolate sources without affecting the front-of-house. Altogether, this input section is designed to support everything from solo performers to full bands and ensemble setups, streamlining setup while maintaining full creative control.
Customisable layers and motorised faders
The QU-7 features 33 motorised 100mm faders and four fully customisable layers, providing fast and clear access to all your input channels, mix outputs and effects sends. The motorised faders automatically respond to scene recalls, so changes between acts or settings are instant and reliable. You can assign any input, mix or control parameter to any layer, putting what matters most directly at your fingertips.
This flexibility makes the desk adaptable to how you like to work, rather than forcing you into a fixed structure. Layer recall and scene management become simple and repeatable, even for multi-user environments. Each fader bank moves in real time with your saved scenes, meaning less setup time between acts or performances. The assignable SoftKeys also let you control mutes, FX, tap tempo or any function you rely on. This tactile layout is ideal for engineers who need to work quickly and intuitively in dynamic live environments.
Intuitive control with capacitive touchscreen
The QU-7 includes a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen that gives you direct, responsive access to all major functions. Navigation is easy and immediate, helping you name channels, assign colours, route signals, and dial in FX quickly without needing to deep dive through nested menus. Everything from mix routing to channel processing is visualised clearly, which is especially useful in busy live scenarios where clarity and speed matter most.
The interface is designed with simplicity in mind, so both experienced engineers and those new to digital desks can work efficiently. Key functions are accessible within a couple of taps, with real-time feedback for every adjustment. This improves confidence during performances, where fast access and accuracy are essential. Combined with the physical faders and SoftKeys, the touchscreen bridges the gap between digital flexibility and hands-on control. It makes the QU-7 feel more like an extension of your workflow rather than a technical barrier.
Built-in FX and powerful routing
The QU-7 comes equipped with six stereo FX engines, giving you a full range of high-quality effects like reverbs, delays, modulators and more. Each FX engine includes its own return channel, meaning you can treat them just like regular input sources. This is ideal when creating polished, professional-sounding mixes in both live and recorded environments. You can also route FX sends from any mix or channel, with total control over level, processing and return routing.
The desk includes 12 flexible mix outputs (6 mono, 6 stereo), each with its own processing chain, and four additional matrix mixes for zone outputs, recording feeds or speaker tuning. These matrix outputs can be linked for stereo use and are processed independently, giving you serious flexibility for monitor engineering, front-of-house, or installed sound systems. Routing adapts easily to your setup, no matter the size or complexity of the venue or performance space you're working with.
Flexible recording and remote control
The QU-7 supports full multitrack recording directly to USB-C and SD card, offering up to 32x32 channels at 48kHz or 16x16 at 96kHz. This means you can capture live shows or rehearsals without needing a separate recording rig or DAW, which is ideal for touring engineers, educators or content creators. The USB-A port also allows stereo recording or playback and can be used to transfer scene files or data.
For larger systems, the 128x128 SLink port connects to Everything I/O stageboxes and expanders, giving you remote input and output control across long distances. Remote mixing is fully supported using Allen & Heath’s free MixPad and 4You apps, available on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. This lets performers manage their own monitor mixes and gives engineers wireless control from anywhere in the venue. These features make the QU-7 a powerful solution for mobile rigs, install systems, or modern digital workflows needing remote flexibility.
