What's new in V 3.0

Building on the strong foundations of previous versions, Playbeat 3.0 offers more than ever for customising your grooves and loops as well as offering more integration and exporting capabilities. All four lanes of sequencers can be used as triggers for other plugins, each one outputting a designated note to trigger a separate sound from your chosen instrument, meaning you can program your grooves using Playbeat and trigger your favourite third party sounds from their respective plugins. Now, you can save and create custom kits and save individual pieces within your kit. These custom kits can now be loaded and auditioned on your groove without interrupting or restarting your sequence to make it easier to find the right sound for your track.

To make it easier to find professional sounds for your mix, new factory samples are included from AES Dana, Arovane and more. Once you have found your favourite kit sound, you can export your loop as an audio file into your DAW through simple drag-and-drop or store it directly onto your computer hard drive for use in a project later. Of course, you can save and export the MIDI file as well. A slew of new performance improvements includes a pan feature per-note in your sequence that's randomisable, as well as a new sequencer length selector range of 16 and 32 steps.

Lastly, V3.0 introduces the ability to remix your sequences to fill your song with pattern variations. Using the newly designed intelligent algorithm, you can edit your samples on the spot and generate a fresh new set of remix patterns with complete freedom and no limits!

How Playbeat works

Unlike traditional sequencers, Playbeat offers a completely new perspective on how to creatively program drum grooves, beats and rhythms for your electronic music production. Using a four-lane grid of sequences, Playbeat allows you to either load in your custom samples or use the onboard factory samples to create a four-piece drum rack. Once you've chosen your samples and sounds, it's as easy as rolling the dice. The large die in the GUI acts as the global randomiser generator, changing how frequent the hits are per sequencer lane as well as their respective rhythm, volume and pitch. Synced to your host, Playbeat will always be on time with the rest of your track to keep a steady rhythm. Of course, you don't need to settle for a computer randomised beat as with Audiomodern Playbeat, you can go in and set parameters and let Playbeat create a rhythm within the context of your settings.

Take control of your grooves

Playbeat offers a comprehensive set of controls that allow you to define the amount of randomisation and customisation within your sequence to create the perfect beat for your track. Set the parameters to determine the minimum and the maximum number of steps within each lane of the sequence, set the minimum and maximum pitch to trigger external samples within your host and determine the maximum and minimum volume per step to create a dynamic and realistic groove that ebbs and flows with your track. Of course, each of these parameters can be randomised individually per lane in your sequencer, or can be done globally via the Playbeat dice to transform your groove in an infinite number of possible ways. Additionally, Playbeat features a very handy quantisation control, allowing you to dial in the desired amount of swing and shuffle for your grooves to take your beats slightly off-grid for a more natural and fluid performance, making it ideal for contemporary hip-hop producers.

Save time with newly designed preset manager

It's important when you're in the studio creating music that you can follow your train of thought quickly. The newly designed preset and sample manager will help you do just that. Now, you can browse samples from any part of your computer, drag and drop them into your sample slots and create your customised sequence faster than ever. When saved, each preset can then be previewed, categorised and tagged for instant recall in your next session.
