Key Features
The Twisted Electrons FLEXfm Groovebox is a compact FM workstation for producers creating detailed rhythms and experimental electronic textures. Its four-operator FM engine gives you access to 32 editable algorithms, letting you build everything from metallic percussion to evolving pads and basslines.

FLEXfm centres around a four-operator FM synthesis engine with 32 algorithms and deep editing control. This gives you plenty of flexibility when shaping sounds, whether you want sharp percussion, distorted leads, ambient textures, or unstable experimental tones.
Operator masking allows you to switch operators on or off per step, creating subtle or dramatic variations across a sequence. Combined with four LFOs per voice, you can continuously reshape movement, modulation, and rhythm without relying on static loops. And if you want even more control, you can record custom LFO waveforms directly using the joystick.
Alongside FM synthesis, FLEXfm includes a built-in sampler for adding external sounds to your productions. You can import samples over USB or record directly through the audio input, making it easy to capture drums, synths, vocals, or field recordings straight into the groovebox.
Resampling support also lets you process and rework your own performances internally, helping you build layered textures and evolving loops quickly. This hybrid setup makes FLEXfm particularly useful if you like combining digital synthesis with sampled material inside a compact desktop workflow.
The control layout is designed for direct interaction, with 12 encoders featuring LED rings so key parameters remain clearly visible while performing. The joystick gives you another expressive way to shape sounds in real time, including smooth morphing between four patterns or four FM algorithms.
This makes transitions feel fluid during live jams or arrangement building. The velocity-sensitive trigger pad also adds extra performance options for rolls, accents, ghost notes, and live input recording. Everything stays close at hand, helping you experiment without constantly diving through menus.
FLEXfm includes a powerful sequencer designed to keep patterns moving and evolving. Polyphonic chaining helps you create more complex arrangements, while step division with up to eight sub-steps allows for detailed rhythmic programming. The built-in probability engine introduces controlled randomness, making repeated loops feel less predictable over time.
Snapshot save and recall functions let you quickly switch between variations during performance, and mix mode makes it easy to store and recall mix scenes. Plus, with individual outputs for all eight voices, you can process each sound separately in external mixers, effects chains, or recording setups.
